There was a caught!

Image
The plan was simple. Go through the back door, silently open the security door, tip toe into the kitchen, creep past the sitting room, into the bedroom, lock the door and tada, we're home! Unfortunately, i ran headlong into the principality of the dynasty of our house. There in the middle of the kitchen was my Mom.  I was rooted to the ground, but somehow managed to smile however, when the universe choose to work against youπŸ™†πŸ™†πŸ™†issa strong something. So there i was, trying to blend in and Mum was carrying on conversation after conversation as though she had no care in the world and she didn't see me sneak in minutes ago. A minute, two, four, by the fifth minute, i was done waiting, couldn't hold the pain no more. I screamed in surrender and my fried yam came in view of everyone. I had gone to buy fried yam after dinner was made. I didn't want what was made, and i had snuck out of the house to buy my yam. Well for sure my 13 years old self felt i had it all...

Repugnant traditions

Image
Yesterday, i read online how a widow was accused of being a witch by her in-laws and was brought into the market square, with her hands bound behind her back and flogged. Today, two widows were accused of being witches and flogged to death. There are so many crazy and repugnant customs and traditions in practice till now. How do you bath the dead body of a widow's husband and ask her to drink the water used to prove she's innocent? Or ask a widow to cut her hair and remain in seclusion for months after her husband's death. How about those who claim the man's properties, leaving the widow with nothing. How does one explain the custom of 'Osu'? And those who practically hurt it's people? Customs that do nothing to everyone under it. Customs that deny families what's due them. Customs that promote violence, hardship and pain. Customs that degrade. Indeed our culture and custom is one beauty that binds, it's a means of celebrating who we are,...

Sundays are for rice?

Image
As core pastor kids, the routine always was, go to church without breakfast, then eat when home after service.  Hunger, combined with the anticipation of a good meal, only to get home to find that beans was the meal for the day. Oh how my spirit got crushed! This was definitely not how things were meant to be. It's a generally accepted universal knowledge that sundays are strictly set aside for rice No other meal ranks close to rice on a Sunday no matter the good intentions or the beautiful presentation. I ate a little portion of my beans and proceeded to try to get some much needed rest, but no, it wasn't meant  to be. It was a futile attempt as my mind kept wandering  back to sunday rice. It felt as though i was missing a limb. Well i snuck into the kitchen, Made myself a little pot of rice, that's when i finally began seeing clearly. Hmmmmmmmm, anyway the rice got me to a state of proper function but who propounded the theory that rice must be eaten on sund...

It was a wonderful time hanging out with hubby. We went town cruising and fun hunting in the new car he got me and while at it, took loads of pictures and videos. Hubby began posting on his social media handles and as is expected, some people shrivel and grow old whenever they see anyone happy. The snakes started crawling into hubby's Dm 'You bought your wife another car?' 'You mean she dressed up like that?' 'You encourage your wife to be this social, outgoing and free?' One fine day an acquaintance met hubby and i and in the course of exchanging pleasantries, he goes  'Madam you dey enjoy oh! You dey finish hubby money and e really dey show for your body'. And i went 'Oga you're very correct oh, if i no finish the money, who will? Shebi na my husband? Him complain? Small smile for person face una won die. Where una all dey when i bin dey trek, fly okada and keke with am no matter the weather? Overnight because of small blessings...

Love is sharing!

The most wonderful thing about being in love is sharing! ..And that's how i dove in head first into hubby's wardrobe and haven't raised my head for a minute till date. Ahhhhhhhhh the pleasure of rocking his wears is priceless. Happened to get called by hubby to come join him in a hangout with his friends one lazy Saturday. Awesomeeeee! After turning my wardrobe inside out, i couldn't come up with anything and then, tada! LightbulbπŸ’‘ I pieced together a rocking outfit One of hubby's designer shirts and a leather pencil trouser On getting to the venue, hubby's jaws simply dropped at my gorgeousness. 😁😁😁 The man was simply tired of reading me the riot act on how i've snatched his boxers, singlets, T-shirts... Till he began hoarding them😏😏 but as a sharp Babe, it didn't deter me jor. What's love if you're stingy with your wears? Well, hubby dearest, i won't stop rocking them!

`Mummy don't worry about the cooking today. I'll handle everything' my younger sister said. You know about the yearly Christmas cooking and the usual ups and downs that goes with it. Mum was always in charge of the cooking while the other girls at home assisted. This year however, Dad traveled, we had the freedom to run the kitchen however we wanted and we were literally in heaven. We couldn't wait to start churning out delicacies. My younger sis got us all hooked and awaiting the delicious fried rice she told us has become her new specialty.  We had helped in cleaning and making ready all the ingredients needed and all our tummies were rumbling in anticipation. Few hours later, we were served rice pudding labeled as fried rice. Overcooked, soaked in oil as we couldn't decide if it was soaked or fried for heaven's sake but we had to smile. The minute she retired for the night, it became a behivee of activities. Noooo, after experiencing such horrible...
