DEM DEY GIVE AWARD?

'You don't mean it!
So what story will you have to tell when women are talking about their experience?'
My friend's mother asked, giving me a very weird look.

I had gone to pay a visit to a friend who just gave birth and as expected some of our gists centred on her birth process and it's accompanying drama.
Of course I had a good laugh while thanking God mother and child were fine.

Pregnancy had always been a mind-disturbing matter for me from childhood
I loved kids but have never looked forward to the process of their delivery with respect to labour and everything in between. I just didn't like or have the heart to try it.
I was so happy upon meeting hubby and he was of the same opinion so we argreed on elective CS even before the kids showed up

Sharing my CS story with my friend got her mum riled up and she went into a long charge of being 'the typical Hebrew woman', her perceived merits of going through labour and on she went to share her own labour experiences.

Well, I sat there wondering
Is there an award for the woman with the most crazy pain or labour experience?
Nigeria has a very high maternal mortality rate. That's 512 maternal mortality per 100,000 birth; that should be a cause for worry not how the birthing of the child came to be.

Some women have been shamed, stigmatized and abused because they didn't give birth the 'natural way'.
To the pregnant ladies pls
-Attend your antenatal
-Take your routine drugs and
-Ensure you don't miss your appointment with your Doctor
-Follow all medical advise/instructions of your Doctor.
The bottom line is that you come out from delivery room alive and sound with your little one

None of both birth method has been certified as the greatest or best as women have lost their lives from both.
Know what will work for you and do it.
Don't stay tied to some mental opinion that has no reason backing it especially as it concerns the life of you and your baby.

Please educate everyone around you today especially that woman!!!

  1. Knowing what works for you is just the key. And whether it's vaginal or intra-abdominal (CS), so long as the mother and Baby are fine... thats what matters most.

    1. So many women have been shamed for birthing their child through CS even in emergency cases.
Some say it's against their beliefs
Others say it's only a wicked woman who wants to waste her hubby's money that uses CS without giving a second thought that it might just be a life saver.
