OUR NIGERIA

Happy Independence day!!!

Birds chirping in the woods
Balloons in the air
We hear another presidential speech
The national colours fly high
But the inhabitants of the nation bow their heads

Independence from what?
From glory to glory is the prayer we know
But our reality is beyond the description of retrogress 

Independence from what?
Another community slain and displaced
Kidnapping, banditry, cultism, police brutality,
Increase in unemployment, daily skyrocketting of the price of food, little or no basic amenities 

Independence of the judiciary or legislatures?
No accountability of government
Incessant foreign loans
Migration of our youths and intellectuals abroad
Tribalism, nepotism, religious wars

We prayed
We sang
We protested
And they killed us
Today we pray again and we shall once again rise to protest evil until it's chains be broken

Oh God of creation
Direct our nobel cause
Guide our leaders right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
And living just and true
Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace
And justice shall reign

Bingo on the lose

My people, I was taking my daughter to school when I heard sounds of feet behind me and a man making a call signal. I turned to see what was going on, only to find a correct dog right behind me. Hmmmmmm my mouth opened on its own accord, next thing I knew, doors were flying open because the way my screaming pierced the air, ahhhhhhhhhhhh! The man started apologizing profusely, saying the dog just took off the minute he opened his door. And everyone went into their rooms as per, normal occurrence. Since I set foot in the Dublin, I think dogs are dragging numbers with humans. Everywhere you turn, someone has a dog and you need to see how protective they are about it. They smile and tell you 'Don't worry, he/she is friendly and loves to play' Then they pause with their dog and wait for you to rub the dog. It's considered impolite and somewhat rude when you don't.
