What the hell is this madness?
Nigeria happens to be one big circus
The wealthy are above the law
The government, above the law
The man who knows somebody that knows somebody that also knows somebody, above the law
Your long legs and deep pocket or both, is the guarantee to go above and beyond, doing anything you please.
The court gives a ruling or judgment and the 'powers that be' will pick and choose whether to do it or not and if they finally decide on obeying, the choose which judgment to obey and to what extent. Obeying only to the point to which it suits them and their purposes.
Well, a wonderful one happened to a colleague of mine today.
He won a case and the defendant's son went and mobilized the police to manhandle and assault my colleague while people stood around taking pictures and making videos.
He was only rescued by soldiers who were passing by who stopped to intervene.
Imagine going about your job as a lawyer and somebody beats you up because he lost the case.
Given time it might probably even progress to one loosing his or her life.
In no sane clime can such a thing happen.
Police being paid to beat up a Lawyer.
Why not transfer your aggression on the court that made the pronouncements or better still, appeal the decision of the court?
Hmmmmmm it's dangerous now to just do your job oh.
Should we all go out now armed?
What's the way forward?
