Happy International Women's Day
Sweet memories
Memories that brings tears to my eyes
Memories that leave me smiling
Memories that make me double my pledge to do right by My Sweet Mother.
Growing up, I saw Mum go through hell and high waters just for her we her children to be settled, to have a better life, without looking back at any consequence or names she'd be called.
Mum took loans
Mum sold her costly clothes and jewelries for peanuts
Mum did everything to ensure we never went hungry
She'd stay up to nurse us back to health
Ohhhhhh Dab paid all the bills but it was Mum that slept on the hospital floor when both of my brothers were admitted for surgery
She stood as our advocate and intermediary before Dad and we the kids
She was there to teach us morals and give our bums hot lashes when we bent.
Today, I join the world in celebrating all the women out there for all the love and sacrifices they give
No words or monetary gift will do but be assured that you're greatly loved and your sacrifices don't go unnoticed.
