Could've been different!

As at 9pm of 11th April, 2024, I am still writing this with that tiny Ray of hope that the news of the demise of Jnr Pope would be a prank taken too far. Especially since the name of the movie the crew was producing is called -The other side of life. Could it just be that they are pulling this stint to make the movie sell???

This one-too-many deaths and that of the other three members who have not yet been found still calls to question the level  of literacy in Nigeria amongst the populace and the lack of any form of emergency response.

From the fact that the multitude gathered around a person whose  lungs would have been soaked with water yet no single person gave him a CPR. A very dysfunctional society where everyone whipped their phones out to record so as to be the first to post it on their social media.

Then again, there's the fact that anyone who demands the barest minimal standards under any form of employment is looked upon as being difficult,  without regards to the safety concerns.  From not providing life jackets which should be compulsory for every occupant of the boat. I recall a time a driver wanted to lead 4 passengers in a sedan that should take a maximum of 3. some drivers will carry 4 passengers in front as well then blame the Devil when accident occurs.

We should seriously look towards our safety in all journies we embark. May we all learn from this unfortunate incident. 

May the family of Jnr Pope and the other members who lost their lives find rest.
