WORKER'S DAY!
At the tail end of his address to the workers, the manager said
...'and the reward for good work, is
more work. So, keep up the good work
guys'.
With that, he walked away from the meeting, without bothering you know the concern of his employees.
It was therefore not a wonder when within the space of one month 90% of the workers had resigned.
Mr John represented the management of 'Greenland ventures', a well known business enterprise that specialized in importation of flour. It was almost impossible not to find their goods everywhere you turn. They were a household name, with great profits but very poor treatment of their staffs and didn't care much about their welfare.
Management kept cutting corners, instead of treating their staffs well. Of course at the initial stages employees were desperate and took the job with the hope of better as promised during their recruitment.
No increase in salary
Company rarely promoted
Bonuses and allowances were delayed or unpaid except when staffs protested
They didn't mind laying off staffs instead of promoting them cos that way they felt they saved some coins.
Years down the line, the company began getting bad publicity, staffs began to steal goods, some good companies hijacked their best staffs and there began the downfall of Greenland ventures.
You're an employer but you're saying in your mind 'well, I don't run a big company'.
How do you treat the 1-3 people under your employment?
How you treat them will reflect on how they'd treat your business.
Today's worker's day, take today to think of a way to appreciate your staffs; they're the brain behind the growth or downfall of your business.
