Listen to your spirit!

Image
God in his infinite wisdom gave us human senses. These senses he put in us, to help us, protect us and more. Physically and intuitive. A lady was in a relationship with this man. He was everything and more, according to her. He gave her absolutely no reason to doubt him yet her spirit wouldn't be at ease. She asked if he was hiding anything from her and of course he told her there was nothing. He spirit kept nudging her but she gave in to the 'i want to get married' wave and got married to him. Only to find out he was a wanted man in his country, who had changed his identity and was living in disguise. If you search within you'd find that your spirit bears witness to things that happens around you. Most times we're so drowned in the noise of our environment to hear what it is saying to us. If you closely examine yourself, you'd find there were some decisions your spirit warned you against, or gave you a peaceful reassurance. God put this guide in us....

The labour of our heros past is now in vain?

Image
Yesterday, marked a very very sad day in the history of the nation Nigeria. President Tinubu signed into law our reverting back to the old national anthem that was composed and handed down by the colonial masters. His decision subsequently meant the anthem written by patriotic and indigent Nigerians meant little or nothing and as such, was squashed. We barely became aware that the legislature was proposing such a bill, when the next minute it flew through all the stages in the house and the president was appending his signature. Of all the problems in Nigeria, our national anthem took priority.  Not hunger Not poverty Not insecurity Not education Not health care Nothing about the social welfare of the citizens. Citizens dying daily, some going to bed hungry, our economy failing, youths and professional hands leaving the country in drones... Yet, the national anthem was out biggest challenge. Till date, the government has been unable to increase minimum wage from paltry ...

WHAT'S GOING ON?

Image
What's going on? What's really really going on? Where do we start from? What's with the generation of today? Everything about this generation is screaming depravity Youths willing to go to any length for fame, money and power Youths not ready to learn patience, diligence, hardwork, unteachable, unapproachable, disrespectful and wild. The basic principles that guide us as even humans have all been thrown away Where do we start to cry from? Hardened hearts! How could a band of students flog another student for alleged phone theft from evening till the morning of the following day until he died. How about the father who takes sexually explicit pictures of his toddler daughter and posts online? Takes her to clubs and stuffs claiming she'd grow up to like it. What kind of seeds are being sown? What's our generation becoming? What is going on? What is going on? Yesterday we saw the podcast of the lady who says so long as she's given some certain amount of ...

GROW IN TIME!

Image
I stood in front of the mirror admiring myself for the uptenth time.  Turning left Turning right Back Front Guess what?  I wanted to lose weight and skipped dinner for a few nights. For someone who could eat at any hour of the night, I believed I had arrived oh. So there I was turning round the mirror like Miss World when it dawned on me; SUCESS DOESN'T HAPPEN LIKE THAT. THERE IS NO TRUE SUCCESS THAT SPROUTS OVERNIGHT  . To see the physical results to weight loss, you begin to notice it from at least 3-4 weeks but there I was in front of the mirror within three days wishing the weights away. That's how some persons approach success. You try something for two days and expect to see the result of another who has been in that business for over 10 years. No patience to learn the ropes No patience to grow. Anything that sprouts so quickly, dies so quickly as well. Anything that stands the test of time, needs time to build strong roots. For any venture you want to g...

Happy children's day

Image
For we in Nigeria, today is a day of celebration. Today, we celebrate one of life's most precious gifts; OUR CHILDREN! One day, I was exhausted from the hyperactivity of our kids.  Chasing Cleaning Adjudicating Feeding With other accompanying house chores. I wanted peace, quiet and some semblance of sanity so the minute hubby got back home from work, I downloaded everything on him and went on to tell him how I missed my single years and our early days of marriage. Well, hubby as is his nature, listened toe patiently, comforted me and began to tell me about some friends who didn't have kids, with their pristine clean homes but would give anything to have my supposed 'noisy and dirty home'. This post is not to open the wounds of those searching and praying for kids but to show how important they are to our lives. Children bring warmth Children make the home complete Children are the driving forces behind almost everything we do Any yes, our lives would be a bo...

Society robbed me.

Image
A friend sent me a picture of myself 6 years ago. I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES!!! Was that was me. Back then right after childbirth, I looked almost the way I was just after our wedding and I began to wonder how I conceived it in my heart that I looked fat. The rigours of healing from a cesarean section, nursing a baby, playing wife and being present for everyone and also keeping up with the societal dictates of looking a certain way. I had heard so many people tell me over and over again that I had gained weight. At a time when I was supposed to be enjoying the miracle of conceiving and birthing children, as well as nursing them and growing with them through every phase, I let society get into my head and steal those special moments because all I was thinking of was how fat and unattractive I had become. Today I'm twice as big than I was back then and I see now that society robbed me of precious moments. I couldn't take pictures with my kids or create fine memori...

Wickedness in High Places!

Image
The Bible says we cannot understand the heart of a man because it is desperately wicked. But it appears like some people taken their own wickedness so high that even the devil sits to take notes from them.... Then those set of people are students being mentored by some Nigerian politicians. In a media interview some weeks ago, the Minister for Works, Engr. Dave Umahi was asked a question about the environmental impact assessment on the roads that he claimed will be constructed and the way he answered it gave him away as being either callous or that he had skeletons in his cupboard.  Many businesses along the coastline had been marked for demolition and the owners had made several appeals which fell on deaf ears. They begged the government to not demolish their properties and terminate their businesses but the bulldozers will not hear of it, bringing down one structure after another. It was obvious they will not build anything. Then today they suddenly discovered telecom...

CAN'T CHEAT NATURE!

Image
I'm naturally a light sleeper, every little noise gets me awake so, I'm pretty sensitive to my surroundings and everything happening. This week however has been super super busy for me. First was the snoring🤣🤣🤣. I detest snoring, so when hubby said I've begun snoring and it seems like I've gradually began gaining ranks in the snoring business. I couldn't believe my ears when he played one of my snoring session for me🤦. Then I gained ground such that the minute my body hits any surface, I'm gone. I'm one who doesn't sleep easily. I'd toss and turn and turn but recently I pass out at any given opportunity and worst of, I'm completely unaware of anything happening around me. Now I understand that you can't cheat nature. This human body, you rest oh or it it takes rest for itself. This is why so many accidents happen. In split seconds of just dozing off crazy accidents have happened. If you find that you need rest, take it oh. Bod...

Perks of a sweet husband!

Image
A loving husband is no joke oh, then imagine that man topped off with care, humour, kindness and grace. Hmmmmmm I married one of this rare kind and my life has been a bed of roses; forget that adage I want something, I keep a baby face. Next minute you hear 'Baby are you fine? What is the problem?' How about getting random gifts? He goes out, comes home with a bag full and says 'I saw these and I just thought they'd look good on you'. Breakfast in bed? Hahaha he fills my cup till it runs over Breakfast on the bed? Always delicious cos he's a master chef Has my back whenever, wherever, however Ahhhhhhh, did I mention I love going shopping with him?  Cos there's a list of things to buy and then there's me pointing my little finger, pouting and saying plllllleeeeaaassseee and viola, it's added to the chart and bill's on lover boy hubby. Okay okay okay, on a serious note, marriage is not a ride in the park but doing it with someone kind a...

PARENTAL CONTROL!

Image
A friend reached out to be in tears and you could tell that every life and willpower in her was gone. Why do parents like to determine ones life's choices?  Why, why why? They're either living vicariously through their kids, forcing them into professions they don't want to venture into or enjoy, living a certain lifestyle and all Or they view their kids as their retirement ticket. Everything their child works for, they want to claim. Either ways, it's nothing short of them controlling the life of their kids, wanting to influence their every decision to suit the parent, manipulating them to get their desired, selfish results. The painful part is these things damage the lives of the kids. Changing the trajectory of their lives Robbing them of joy and fulfilment in what they do, Loosing out in certain relationships that would've been a lifeline for them. I remember the story of the lady who wanted going into basketball but the parents refused and today all ...

LONELINESS!

Image
Read of a lady who fell into depression, tried to end her life but was unsuccessful at it thankfully. Today she's celebrating life.  There are a million reasons that could push a person into this path but I'd love to touch on loneliness today. One of my hubby's colleague told him, he doesn't see himself living beyond the next 5-6years. Another actually developed mental health issues and had to check in with a Doctor for awhile. All these sound like a joke but loneliness is crazy. In Nigeria, we readily took each other's company for granted. Walking down the street, if you don't greet people around, they'd naturally extended greetings to you. If your neighbour or friend doesn't see or hear from you, they'd pop into your house Friends not only visit, they can drop in unannounced and might even sleep over. There was always someone to talk with, someone to talk to, something to make you laugh. Got to THE ABROAD and I see soany lonely people w...

Wisdom and discretion!

Image
A lady came out online to cry about her needs. Her plight moved people enough to go out of their way to make contributions for her to sort out her problems. Then the money and other gifts came. Of course you'd always find one or two people who's have negative things to say. The response she gave was where wisdom should have been applied. She began to talk down on the people and even flaunted the things she had gotten. Began engaging people online and trading words. Shifting attention from the trolls to people questioning her character. That's how people started calling back for their givings to be refunded them. Saw the response a hotel gave to a very very bad review. They acknowledged the complains made, thanked the people who left the review, started their company goals of excellence and asked for a chance to change the minds of the guests. Meaning they would want them to come again to their hotel. And took the criticism positively. Here, we're quick to ju...

Tick, Tick, Tick.

Image
Let's forget the narrative of pressure and forcing someone into marriage for a second and think about what makes people lose our in this marriage thing. I know of a lady who cut off a wonderful and promising guy she was for a long time when it was time for marriage. Her reason was that they didn't belong to the same church. She eventually married someone from her church and her fellow church member is doing a great job of putting her in misery. Guess who she always calls to unburden to? The guy she rejected. How about the ones that will say you're not in their class? There's also another set that their family members have been doing puck and choose for since 1842 and yet they're still in the market shopping for a suitable spouse. It's either the Mum says they're not spiritually compatible  Or the siblings would find a supposed fault. Did you see the case of Engr Cole from the Cole family of Victoria Island? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 What of ones the person in que...

DO BETTER

Image
There's a set of people that should best be described as pandemics. When we were taught parasitic relationship in biology, we weren't thinking it would be translated into human relationship. Their numbers or contacts are either blocked, deleted or archived and if for any reason they get through with a strange line, they get quickly discharged. They're there, never have any form of relationship or communication. Then they crawl out from a rock and you see them calling you. The minute you see their calls one automatically knows they're not calling with regards to goodwill. Their call only means there's a demand. They only call when they need one form of assistance or the other. Worst part of it is that sometimes, after going out of your way to help them, they go silent ago. Not even a thank you, until when they need you again. If you fall amongst this category of parasitic people, learn to do better. Build a healthy relationship with people.  Relationship ...

LIVE YOUR LIFE FOR YOU!

Image
I just stumbled upon the above tweet by the Nigerian sensational singer, Timi Dakolo and I wished I could like it a billion times. There's something about trying to get approval or validation from people. To just hear them say I love you, well done, you're beautiful, generally say something positive that will make you happy and feel fulfilled and accomplished. Honest truth is, those whom you're trying to please, depriving yourself and all just to be in their good graces, know. They feed off that vibe and so, starve you of that thing you desperately want to hear. They hang it over your head like a dog to a bone and once in forever, throw you a piece. These set of people CAN NEVER EVER EVER BE PLEASED. Before you know it, you'd realize that you've spend a good part of your life chasing the delusional approval you want from them. It could be from your spouse, father, mother, an elder brother, sister or someone you look up to, a friend or even a religious le...

NEARNESS IS NOT DEARNESS!

Image
Nearness is not love ohhhhhh How loud should I sound this? In other words, not everyone close to you is your friend or happy about you. Judas Iscariot was a disciple of Jesus. Infact he was the money bank of Jesus' ministry so he was among the innermost circle and to everyone he was dear to Jesus. That was the assumption until he sold Jesus out when he believed he has seen a better place to bank with. Some people's loyalty or friendship right now is because they're using you, they haven't seen a presumably better offer yet or they're bidding their time. Once they get what they want, allegiance changes. Some people have opened their homes and souls to persons who can be termed snakes, for want of a better word to describe them. Bible instructs us to TEST ALL SPIRITS!!! Before you open your door to welcome people into your home, before you allow them access into your space, before you allow them access to your kids, your spouse, your secrets and more TEST,...

Too big to apologize

Image
Proverbs 15:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV) A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. The worst thing that can happen to some people is expecting an apology to come out of them. They'd rather lose vital organs of their body than say 'I'm sorry'. Apologize? To who? For what? First is even getting them to the point of admitting they're in the wrong. They have excuses and logical explanations to backup their actions And for any reason, they agree they're at fault, they'd try to dismiss the issue. Some other persons would outrightly refuse apologizing. We've seen this play out in several scenarios. An African parent accuses a child of doing something, then later finds out he or she was wrong. They'd gloss over it and probably give the child something in special cases and expect that the issue automatically dies It's almo...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Image
Helllllllloooooo Happy mother's day again? How many mother's day do we celebrate in a year? Now somebody's force to think of how to celebrate the mum. Mttteeeeeeewwwww Wait a minute Have you read of how many women their lives change forever just by function of childbirth? Some permanently lose function of some of their body organs like ears, eyes... Some develop health complications for life. How about the death? How about those who stayed in abusive marriages, or endured unimaginable conditions, and done crazy things just for the love of their children? Then today affords us another opportunity and we have something to say? It's mother's day again Go out there and celebrate your mother They don't come twice!

Celebrity life.

Image
Ever seen them big stars and admired them? The social media presence The recognition everywhere you go The influence and supposed life of affluence We all wish it's our kids, our family member, friend or ourselves living that 'BEST LIFE' We all admire the life We want it Then the curtains are opened and we get a little glimpse. Did you follow the just past AMVCA Awards? See them dressings, both male and female? See how much each celebrity put in to come out looking the way they did? The time, the thought, the money, every effort. Some go as far as dieting for months to look good for one night. How do these celebrities come about the funds the spend? How much do they make compared to how much they spend? Everyday there's a show, a party or some award or something going on. They have to show up and show off or else you'd no longer be rated. Can one keep up with that? Doesn't stop the attention they get which can quickly turn negative at the slightest m...

Schools do better!

Image
Watched clips of the burial of the 4 years old boy who died in school cos he choked while eating. There's just so much drama around schools and kids these days Administration wise, kids welfare and more. A woman took to social media days ago to call out a school for sending her little daughter back home without adult supervision because she was some minutes late to school. What is going on? Is there no standard of running a school? Do these schools even conduct reviews on themselves? Are they routinely inspected by government? A child died from choki6means the teacher have no first aid knowledge, nothing in school for emergency response as well. What parent would want to suffer the loss of their child? I can only imagine the pain of the mother to the 4 year old. So many kids suffer from neglect from schools. How can parents trust them with the welfare of their children? If it's not bullying, it's one careless act, and now it's death on death. May we not bury...

We can't be the same!

Image
Have you ever been engaged in a debate with a die hard fan? Have you entered into a discuss with a person who's of a different opinion and it quickly escalated into something else? It's always the same from fans of musicians to footballers, athletes, politicians/political parties and views, up to religion.. just think of any subject. As our faces are different, that how our thought processes are Why then do people go crazy when someone is of a contrary opinion. So go out of their way to say vile and mean things Others even develop hatred.  Some go as far as getting physical just because the other party is not in agreement with them. Where then is the spice of life if we all are to be seeing things in one black or white, through one lens? Learn to accommodate people! You may not necessarily agree with their opinions but you can hear them and if you choose not to, you're not to fight the person, what you have a problem with is the opinion not the person. So, you c...

Cheating!

Image
I'd love to write this in capital letters 'THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO CHEAT'. Of course I can hear the arguments rolling out already but hear me out. In law, we were taught that to every rule, there's an exception and this case is no exception. There are spouses who are comitted to making the life of their partner miserable and full of sorrow, those who's happiness is only seen when their partner is in pain. However the post for today is not about the aforementioned exception. Taking the case study of the average marriage/relationship out there, over 70% of those who cheat have no excuse. They do it just because They have partners who are working with them to build a home, to execute projects that would better their lives, raise their children to be wonderful and even depriving themselves to better their spouses, but no. When some become accomplished they'd begin to look down on their partner as not unto their level. A woman struggles with a...

Cyber security levy

Image
*Cybersecurity Levy* Levy????  the synonyms for Levy are tax, fee and fine. Yes, fine. So basically the Federal Government of Nigeria wants to place a fine on anybody who is using online transaction in the guise of cyber security.  it is most annoying because normally, providing security is the responsibility of the government and the fact that such an obscene idea would even be thought of is not just insane but opens up a vista that makes one wonder what next? Will the next action be for Nigerians to pay for their own physical security? in other climes the government provides enabling environment that encourages people to engage in online transactions,  but not Nigeria where they want to Stiffle every online transaction.  For perspective,  the current taxes and fees already paid for all transactions are reflected in the image above and one cannot help but wonder.... is Nigeria being restrategised to fail??? 0.005 per 1000 or 0.5% in the guise of cyb...

Today's parenting.

Image
I was damn busy and we'll, today happened to be a public holiday so, the kids were home and making the chores 100 times more difficult to achieve Sweep 600 times Mop the flow 59 times Cooking in between Doing laundry While they're busy helping you rearrange the house. I was already at my wits end when I heard his younger sister crying. I assumed it was the usual sibling fight and he probably hit her so without waiting for an explanation, I gave him some cool strokes. Ohhhhhhhh how he cried Then went ahead to tell me how she did hit her leg on the dinning table and he didn't hit her. Hmmmmmm I had to admit my wrong and apologized to him with a good explanation. In our days, our parents were and still to them, they're always right. No room for explanation No room for your opinion If you were flogged, corrected or anything was done to you wrongly you rarely if ever, would get an apology We questioned nothing and obeyed everything. Today the case is different Yo...

PEOPLE LOVE BAD NEWS!

Image
People love bad news People love to hear bad news about others And yes, people love to spread bad news about others! Nigerian Actress Angela Okorie has been online ranting, from one person to the other. This person is bad, The other person is a killer Today it's Mercy Johnson and her mother who are witches and turn people into goat. Someone you claim to have been close to? Everybody around you is bad and you're the only good one? Sometimes people try to trash talk another because they either feel intimidated, are envious, or feel they're in some form of competition. It's only a handful of times that you get the truth. You talk trash about people and say it's boldness and you're calling them out with your full chest? What evidence do you have that Mercy Johnson's mum turned people to goat while she was alive? How many people did you know she turned to goat? What did you do with this knowledge? Aren't you an accomplice then for keeping quiet? T...

God help us!

Image
Seen the video of over 80 rooms that was constructed under bridge in Lagos and rented out to people for as much as #250,000? Only God knows how long this practice has been in existence. The other day it was some group of boys that rounded up for living under the bridge. You needed to have seen the videos of these two different cases. See how bad people are struggling to find places to lay their head? The hardship The suffering Because they can't afford better Yet we wake up everyday to one news of demolition or the other. And all our Minister for works has to say is ' I'm a village boy oh, I no dey understand your English' Abroad, government try to make better the lives of their citizens. They build houses and rent at give away prices There are shelters and welfare centres around. What do we have in Nigeria? They approve land and your building plan and you build. New government comes in and says you're not following the master plan and in the twinkle of ...

Employment conditions!

Image
A very beautiful girl in my choir outrightly became a shadow of herself because of monthly target. Her boss was mounting pressure on her to meet up. At some point he point blank told her 'Cant you use what you have to get what you want?' Every month, the target only got worse. She gradually began to loose her joy, next thing it became an issue of battling depression. In the end, she had to resign to save her sanity. Some employees are nothing but exploiters. They give unrealistic targets and when you can't meet up, they make your life a living hell. I once had a boss who told me 'i don't pay oh but any job that you bring you'd get a percentage'. This man stressed the living daylight out of me. Employment conditions is something our government should look into. At least there should be a level that would be generally accepted as the barest minimum!

WORKER'S DAY!

Image
At the tail end of his address to the workers, the manager said          ...'and the reward for good work, is             more work. So, keep up the good work             guys'. With that, he walked away from the meeting, without bothering you know the concern of his employees. It was therefore not a wonder when within the space of one month 90% of the workers had resigned. Mr John represented the management of ' Greenland ventures', a well known business enterprise that specialized in importation of flour. It was almost impossible not to find their goods everywhere you turn. They were a household name, with great profits but very poor treatment of their staffs and didn't care much about their welfare. Management kept cutting corners, instead of treating their staffs well. Of course at the initial stages employees were desperate and took the job with the hope of better as promised during the...
